Real Estate and Like-Kind Exchanges Berenbaum, Weinshienk & Eason’s traditional excellence in real estate transactional work extends to providing real estate-related tax services. Our team advises real estate clients on a variety of tax strategies, including strategies and planning to maximize capital gains treatment and to defer realization of taxable gain. These strategies include Section 1031 like-kind exchanges, whether simultaneous, deferred or reverse, as well as installment sales, the use of tenancies in common and sale-leasebacks. 5.
