James A. Jacobson has a varied business, securities and real estate practice. His business practice involves the representation of a wide variety of entities, including institutional venture capital firms, internet companies, software developers, educational institutions, and manufacturers and distributors of various products. His representation of business and corporate clients has encompassed practically all areas of business and corporate activity including business formation, negotiation of internet development, advertising, content and e-commerce agreements, intellectual property issues and licensing, securities compliance for public company insiders, equity and debt financings, and mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Jacobson’s real estate practice includes the representation of developers, lenders, property owners, landlords and tenants in a wide variety of real estate related matters including purchase and sale transactions, construction and permanent financing transactions, establishment of common interest communities, and lease transactions. Prior to entering law school, Mr. Jacobson received a Masters in Computer Systems from the University of Michigan and was employed by Hughes Aircraft Company in computer systems design and analysis. Mr. Jacobson received his law degree from the University of Denver in 1977 where he was an editor of the Denver Law Journal. He is also admitted to practice law in California.
